Proper Use of Urgent Care During the Holidays: Vital Reflexes to Remember

As the holidays approach, the Regional Health Agency (ARS) wishes to raise awareness among residents of the region “regarding the proper use of urgent care”, by reminding four “reflexes” to have during this period.

“Emergencies are not obvious”

First of all, “emergencies are not obvious”. They are intended to treat, as a priority, vital emergencies requiring an immediate response in terms of medical care and resources.

First call your primary care physician or replacement. If they are not available, you can find a consultation location without an appointment on an interactive map on the ARS Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes website in the section “On-call medicine and urgent care”.

You can also call “15”: the healthcare access service will be able to provide you with an answer 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and possibly obtain a consultation in general medicine if necessary.

While the circulation of winter viruses is very active, the ARS also asks citizens to wear a surgical mask in the event of symptoms and to apply other barrier gestures to limit the transmission of these viruses: regularly ventilate and premises, wash your hands regularly, use single-use tissues, cough or sneeze into your elbow.

Finally, the agency recommends getting vaccinated and advises people most at risk to get vaccines once morest flu and Covid-19 at the same time because these two different viruses circulate over the same period.
