“The ambition of this initiative is to bring together all municipal primary education schools around the values of sport,” said the association. “During these activities, the students were able to address several themes that were close to their hearts, such as sport but also racism. Some children were thus able to express what they felt and talk regarding their experiences,” supported the person in charge of communication from Panathlon, Jennifer Thienpont. “Indeed, the values we hold of course relate to sport, but go well beyond, and also concern daily societal values going in the direction of social harmony and living together,” he said. she adds. An educational file, containing resources available to teachers, will also be used in the curriculum of each school involved in the program.

“As in sport, and more broadly in our society, fair play also has its place at school. Fair play is a transversal value, a state of mind, which accompanies us in all aspects of our life”, declared the director of the Panathlon Wallonia-Brussels association, Philippe Housiaux.

Molenbeek-Saint-Jean is the first municipality in the Wallonia-Brussels Federation to propose a collaboration with the Panathlon association. However, it hopes to “reach more municipalities in the FWB in the future”. In total, more than fifteen primary municipal schools in Molenbeek will participate in the project. From November 20 to 24, School 13 will be the next to host “Fair Play Week”.
