Gérard Guillemaud, president of the Jura Cancer League, constantly repeats: “We must promote not only breast cancer screening, but also colorectal and cervical cancer screening. We also need to communicate the importance of physical activity in terms of prevention and maintain mobilization.”
Cured in more than 9 out of 10 cases
A whole program to which the Pink October campaign appears for the first time in France in 1994. As the departmental president further specifies, “if in fact in the Jura the detection rates for these diseases are higher than those observed on average in our country, we are still far from the European objectives in this area.”
However, if breast cancer affects nearly 58,000 women in our country annually. Detected at an early stage, it can be cured in more than 9 out of 10 cases. Hence the importance of prevention and screening in all cases.
Meet at Liberty Square
Between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Saturday October 14, 2023 on the Place de la Liberté in Lons-le-Saunier, several organizations and associations providing support in the field will be present around the Departmental Cancer League. For example, the Common House, the Sirènes de Bellecin, Tab’Agir, the Regional Screening Coordination Committee, the Primary Health Insurance Fund, the Jura Committee of the French Federation of Physical Education and Voluntary Gymnastics will hold a stand with the Jura League.
A copious program associated with a raffle and activities (read below), all intended to send messages for the benefit of the health of Jura residents.
The animations :
• Hiking by the Retraite sportive (9 km), cycling by the Cyclo-club de Messia (30, 51 or 80 km) and mountain biking by the VTT Conliège (14 or 28 km). Registration and departures from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.;
• Urban hike via the Common House (4.5 km);
• Rowing machines (Dolois rowing club);
• Discovery of cardio-boxing (Athletic Ring);
• Tennis (Tcbl) ;
• Biathlon introduction to the laser rifle;
• Specific sports entertainment (Ufolep).
