BALTIMORE – The Orioles will give the ball to their two young right-handers to start the first two games of the American League Division Series once morest the Rangers.
On Friday, Orioles manager Brandon Hyde announced that Kyle Bradish will start Game 1 on Saturday at Camden Yards, followed by Greyson Rodríguez, who will start Game 2 on Sunday. It will be the debut for both in the postseason.
Bradish took off to become the leader of the rotation in 2023 (his second year in the Majors) posting a 2.83 ERA over 30 starts. The 27-year-old right-hander became the first qualified Orioles starter to finish a season with an earned run average under 3.00 since 1992, when Mike Mussina posted a 2.54 mark.
“It’s an honor to start the first game of the postseason,” Bradish said. “I want to thank Hyde and everyone. But this is what I expect from myself, so I can’t wait to do it.”
Rodríguez posted a 4.35 ERA in 23 starts in his rookie year, across two stints in the Majors – 7.35 in his first 10 starts and 2.58 in his last 13.
