Only five days have passed since the attack against him and former US President Donald Trump has officially accepted the nomination for the Republican candidate during the last day of his party’s National Convention in Milwaukee.
“With faith and devotion, I proudly accept your nomination for President of the United States,” the Republican said, as the crowd could be heard chanting “Trump, Trump, Trump!”

“In four months, we will achieve an astonishing victory,” he declared from the stage, where a figure of a firefighter had been erected in honour of one of the victims of the shooting that occurred on 13 July in Pennsylvania, during one of his rallies.
“The assassin almost ended my life with his bullet,” Trump recalled. Despite the attack, he felt safe because “God was on my side” and managed to dodge the bullet with a slight movement of his head, without planning it.
“I stand before you by the grace of Almighty God,” the Republican candidate declared during his speech, in which he mentioned that after the attack he suffered, he raised his fist in a sign of “resistance.” Then, he recalled, he heard a “shout of pride” among the “crowd of patriots” who gathered that afternoon in Pennsylvania.
Trump added: “He wasn’t supposed to be here tonight, he was supposed to be dead,” added the 78-year-old politician, who said his message was one of “confidence and hope.
