Prometheus ran into the toughest opponent in the draw for the BCL ‘8’ phase, as the hand of the manager of the Serbian national teams and former (Hellenized) center of Olympiakos Dragan Tarlac brought Spanish Malaga on the road of the home team, which we remind you qualified as 2nd from the 12th Group of the Top-16.
To give you an idea of the difficulty of the draw, the Spaniards are currently in the top two of their domestic league (topped by Real Madrid) and have had an excellent run so far in Europe, comfortably occupying 1st place in the 9th Group of the Top-16.
The Final-4 of the BCL will take place at the end of April at a neutral site (Frankfurt was removed), with the CEO of the organization Patrick Komnenos to reveal that the final phase of the Champions League will take place in Belgrade («Stark Arena»), the cradle of European basketball and basketball birthplace of great players.
As far as the system of conducting the phase of “8” is concerned, it will be in the form «best of three»with Prometheus playing the first, if necessary, the third game in a row away from Patras, while the second match once morest Malaga will be played at “Tofalos” (the matches start with the “emba” of April).
As announced, the Zeliko Rebratsa, former international center of Panathinaikos, will be this year’s “ambassador” of basketball in the Final-4 of the BCL. KAE Prometheus was represented in the draw by the manager of the Organization Thanasis Souflias.
