Prolonged grief disorder

One in ten people would experience prolonged grief at least once in their life. It is a mourning that becomes more complicated, lasts, in connection with different parameters. The National Center for Resources and Resilience (CN2R) in psychotrauma offers a file on this subject. It specifies this disorder, its expression according to the circumstances of the death, the nature of the relationship with the deceased, the social support…, as well as the methods of care.

Grieving is a normal process, which can get complicated. This is called prolonged mourning. Certain situations lead to more prolonged grief disorders, such as the loss of a child, or the loss of a loved one in dramatic circumstances (attack, suicide, etc.). How to identify these risky situations, how to help the people concerned? What is the role of professionals, relatives? THE Diagnostic and static manual of mental disorders (DSM-5) proposes diagnostic criteria for prolonged grief disorder.
