While several leaks reach us concerning future productions of Ubisoft, today we learn more regarding one of them. Codenamed “Project Q”, this competitive multiplayer title should be Ubisoft’s new Fortnite-style Battle Royale.

Un Fortnite made in Ubisoft ?

Ubisoft has been suffering from several leaks for some time. The French studio does not seem to have control over its communication when we learned last September of the existence of a certain “Project Q” via
le leak du Geforce Now. Today several sources specify the existence of this game developed by Ubisoft Bordeaux. Project Q presents itself as a competitive multiplayer title with two game modes: a first called “Battle Zone” in which two teams of 4 players compete in an arena, similar to the strategic point in Call of Duty, and a second called “Showdown” which is similar to a Battle Royale.

If nothing has been confirmed for the moment from the French studio, a recent video shared by the famous Tom Henderson on eXputer would show the style of Project Q. At first glance, it’s hard not to compare this new game to Fortnite or Overwatch. In mechanics, on the other hand, Project Q draws from right to left to offer us a different experience from titles from Epic Games and Blizzard.

It will be a priori possible to choose his weapons and skills as well as three different “wonders” (wonders in English). Rather than nag assault rifles and other firearms, players will have the choice between paint guns, playing cards, hammers or even fireworks. Finally, several unique skills will be available such as wings allowing you to float and jump higher.

A Battle Royale can hide another

We do not yet know if these leaks and the video already available correspond to Project Q or another project in development. You should know that Ubisoft is also preparing other Battle Royales, including “Pathfinder” with a more original concept in which players will have to team up to reach the center of the map and defeat a Boss. Anyway, it is certain that the French giant seeks to position itself permanently in the Battle Royale market. following the announcement of the end of his first attempt in the genre, Hyper Scape.

Project Q: Towards a new Free-to-Play Battle Royale from Ubisoft to overshadow Fortnite?

The leaked images show a pretty well-defined game, but one that is still in its infancy. We will therefore have to wait for confirmation from Ubisoft to be sure that this information concerns Project Q or another still “secret” game. It is certain, however, that Ubisoft Bordeaux is on the spot: The studio does indicate on its site that it is working on a “Free-to-Play PVP”. To be continued.
