The game project in development from NCSoft Project M, which we had already heard regarding, shows itself a little more.
Project M is a game of NCSoft developed under Unreal Engine 5. We had already been able to see some images of the motion-capture sessions and of certain assets used. It will be a narrative game, like Quantic Dream titles.
NCSoft’s Technology Showcase
We know that the Unreal Engine 5 engine allows almost photo-realistic representations, both environments and people. It seems that the NCSoft developers have tamed the engine well, since the images broadcast with the trailer flatter the retina well. The game should precisely serve as technology showcase at NCSoftsince it will exploit all their technologies: motion-capture, 3D scanning of bodies and faces with a homemade tool, 3D scan of the sets too, etc… The goal is to immerse you in the narration, like in a movie (hence the code name, “Project M” for “Project Movie”).
An interactive movie regarding your character’s revenge
In this narrative game / interactive filmthe player embodies a man who seeks to avenge the death of his girlfriend. As in all games of the genre, it’s your choices that make the story. Your decisions affect the storyline, and your morals should have a impact on the ending you can get (we know there will be multiple endings). Other than that, very little is yet known regarding Project M.
Project M (provisional name) will be released on an as yet unknown date, and we still don’t know on which platforms either.
