Project explores river and tourist transport options from Itá Enramada to Villeta

Asuncion, IP Agency.- A 20-kilometer river route along the Paraguay River connects the towns of Itá Enramada and Villeta, in the Central department. This route is a projected river and tourist transportation option promoted by several State institutions.

“We want to offer not only recreational outings, but also practical and affordable transportation options,” said Tourism Minister Angie Duarte during a tour with representatives of several institutions.

The initiative, which in addition to the Ministry of Tourism has the support of the Vice Ministry of Transport and the Paraguayan Navy, aims to improve connectivity and revitalize the economy of the coastal region of the metropolitan area, which includes towns such as Puerto Pabla, Villa Elisa, San Antonio, Ypané and Villeta.

Inspection by institutional authorities is essential to identify possible embarkation and disembarkation points, as well as other factors that will determine the viability of the project.

The director of the Merchant Navy, Patricio Ortega, stressed the importance of this project for the local economy. “This type of initiative not only benefits the tourism sector, but can also have a significant impact on the economy of the coastal municipalities,” he said.

The Director of Projects of the Vice Ministry of Transport, Juan José Rolón, also highlighted the efficiency of river transport, especially in comparison with other means of transport.

“River transport can offer direct connectivity between cities, facilitating the movement of people and goods. This opens up new opportunities for trade and tourism, and can bring a significant increase in the volume of goods and tourists on weekends,” he said.

This project promises to transform the way people and goods move in Paraguay, offering a sustainable and efficient alternative that could potentially revitalize local economies and promote tourism in riverside areas.
