“Project 2025 is the greatest assault on our government and our personal freedoms ever seen in our history,” Biden said at a rally in Michigan on Friday.
According to Biden, this program was developed and funded by “Trump’s people,” and its implementation will be a “nightmare.”
Biden said the “2025 Plan” would criminalize the distribution of prescription drugs for abortions, “destroy the civil service” by replacing officials with Trump supporters, cripple government health insurance programs, and drive up drug prices.
The “2025 Project” is a 900-page set of ideas and recommendations released last year by the conservative think tank Heritage Foundation that represents the vision of conservatives, including Trump supporters and former administration officials, for what the next American government should look like.
“The actions of liberal politicians in Washington have created a pressing need and a unique opportunity for conservatives to begin undoing the damage done by the left and building a better country for all Americans in 2025,” the project’s official website states.
“It is not enough for the Conservatives to win elections,” he added. “If we are to save the country from the grip of the radical left, we need a governing agenda and the right people, ready to implement that agenda on day one of the next Conservative administration.”
The plan details sweeping reforms of the executive branch, including criminalizing and banning pornography, dissolving the Commerce and Education departments, and halting abortion pill sales.
The plan also supports deploying the military to “assist in apprehension operations” along the U.S.-Mexico border and mass deportations of millions of illegal immigrants.
The plan also calls for the firing of thousands of civil servants, expanded presidential power and sweeping tax cuts.
Some American media outlets believe that “Project 2025” does not represent Trump’s electoral program per se, but rather a plan proposed by his supporters for his presidency if he wins the elections.
Trump has previously said he knew nothing regarding the “project,” hadn’t read it, and didn’t know who wrote it. The former president added that “the radical left Democrats are trying to tie him to this post,” which has been the subject of much of the commentary in pro-Democrat media.
Biden does not believe Trump’s assertions of his innocence in this document, and says that the 2025 project “will allow the Justice Department to go following Trump’s enemies.” For his part, the former president directs the same accusation at the current Justice Department, once morest the background of the criminal cases filed once morest him.
US media outlets considered Biden’s speech an attempt to divert attention from his failed debate with Trump, which heightened concerns regarding the 81-year-old president’s health and led to growing calls for him to withdraw from the presidential race.
