The parchment fig is one of the summer fruits that are beneficial to human health, however, there are groups that are prohibited from eating it for satisfactory considerations, according to Dr. Marwa Ibrahim, a clinical nutritionist.

1- Diabetics

Marwa said that the fig has negative effects on the health of diabetics when consumed in large quantities, and the reason is due to its high content of sugars, which lead to high blood sugar and increase insulin resistance in the body.

2- Patients allergic to figs

The therapeutic nutrition consultant pointed out the danger of eating figs when allergic to it, because it stimulates the immune system to produce histamine, which in turn leads to the appearance of an annoying group of symptoms, such as rashes, itching, swelling of the face, coughing and shortness of breath.

3- Patients with Irritable Bowel Syndrome

She recommended that patients with Irritable Bowel Syndrome reduce or stay away from eating parchment figs, because it contains fructose sugar, which is difficult for their digestive system to deal with, causing constipation, flatulence, and stomach cramps.

4- Patients with osteoporosis

Pomegranate figs contain acids that may reduce the body’s ability to absorb calcium from foods, so it is one of the fruits that are forbidden to patients with osteoporosis.

5- People who take anticoagulants

People who take anticoagulant medications should stop eating figs, because it increases blood flow, because it contains high levels of vitamin K, which puts them at risk of bleeding.

6- People exposed to kidney stones

The parchment fig is faulty because it contains a high percentage of oxalate, which leads to the formation of kidney stones, so people at risk of infection should stay away from it.

7- People with weak immunity

Doctors recommend people with weakened immunity to be careful of figs, because excessive consumption of it harms the spleen, which is responsible for the production of infection-fighting white blood cells.
