After the passage of Hurricane Rafael, which affected water distribution operations in Havana, the Aguas de La Habana Company has reported on the progressive reestablishment of its supply systems in various areas of the capital. With the reconnection of the electricity supply, several fountains and pumping stations have resumed their services, allowing the normalization of access to water in the neighborhoods and districts of the city.
According to the company’s official statement, the El Gato supply source, which supplies the San José line, was one of the first to restore service, achieving electrical reconnection at 6:20 pm. Subsequently, the Cosculluela supply source also recovered electricity at 6:30 pm.
At 8:00 pm, the Palatino booster restored its pumping operations, allowing access to service in the Príncipe area, particularly in the hospital area, a region of special importance for the city’s health infrastructure.
Later, the Fontanar supply source, in charge of supplying water to the Boyeros municipality and the Fontanar district, recovered the electricity at 9:40 pm, achieving the activation of the units by 10:00 pm, thus guaranteeing the distribution of the water resource in this sector.
Finally, at 11:45 pm, the promoter Martín Pérez restored his operations, allowing the resumption of water service in the municipalities of Guanabacoa and Regla, in the districts of Mañana and Modelo, as well as in the Industrial Zone.
The Aguas de La Habana Company thanked its customers for their patience during the service recovery process and reiterated its commitment to the prompt restoration of normal distribution conditions in the affected areas.
