After thirteen years, the Slovak Telekom Group sold a 51 percent stake in PosAm, spol. s ro, which has been operating independently on the Slovak market since March 3. Slovak Telekom agreed on the buyback of the majority stake in the company directly with its founder and CEO Marián Marek. As Slovak Telekom reported on Friday, the sale of PosAm does not prevent them from looking for opportunities for effective cooperation on selected projects in the future as well. In June 2020, Slovak Telekom also sold a 100 percent stake in Zoznam.
By buying the majority share of one of the leaders in the information and communication technologies (ICT) market in 2010, Slovak Telekom planned to acquire competences in a new segment and offer more complex services, including infrastructure and application solutions. In cooperation between the two companies, the first large Slovak public cloud under the Telekom brand was created in 2011, which was built and operated by PosAm. Key innovations developed in recent years include the ParkDots parking application, which Deutsche Telekom selected for its Smart City portfolio in 2018.
“Currently, the composition and structure of our group’s business is partially changing and we are focusing on new technological challenges such as the construction of optics or the next generation of mobile networks,” said Pavel Hadrbolec, financial director of the Slovak Telekom group. “At PosAm, we want to continue to focus on key projects and develop our competences using the most modern technologies in order to constantly deliver software solutions with high benefits to our customers,” said PosAm CEO Marián Marek.
The company PosAm provides its own software solutions in the fields of field service management, insurance, transport and public administration. Slovak Telekom is the largest Slovak telecommunications operator, providing fixed and mobile network services to individuals, households and corporate customers under the Telekom brand. Slovak Telekom is part of the multinational group of companies Deutsche Telekom Group, its sole shareholder is Deutsche Telekom Europe BV with a 100 percent share of shares.
