Eastern Slovak energy companies are already working on new advance payments for small entrepreneurs

January 20, 2023

Východoslovenská energetika (VSE) is already working intensively on the preparation of new advance regulations for this year for small businesses. Therefore, no actions are required on the part of the regulated entrepreneurs and the organization at this time. If customers have already made advance payments, they will be refunded. “If the customers have not yet paid the advance payments, we recommend waiting for the new schedule,” Katarína Šulíková, spokeswoman for Východoslovak energetika, told the SITA agency.

Energy companies will continuously inform regarding the deadlines for sending amended regulations or other details on their website vse.sk. At the same time, the East Slovak energy companies point out that the price reduction applies to advances for 2023, the billing invoice for 2022 must be paid in the original amount and due date.

Energy experts point out that the above does not apply to households and unregulated customers, their schedules or invoices will not change and they need to be paid. “In addition, for unregulated customers, the prices of electricity and gas for unregulated entrepreneurs are not subject to price regulation and are governed by the supply contract, respectively by the price lists valid at the time,” stated Šulíková. For companies with unregulated energy prices, the Ministry of Economy plans to announce an aid scheme similar to the one from December last year.

At its extraordinary meeting on Monday, the Government of the Slovak Republic adopted a new method of capping the price of electricity and natural gas supply for vulnerable customers – entrepreneurs and organizations with a regulated price (so-called small businesses with an annual consumption of electricity up to 30 megawatt hours and natural gas up to 100 megawatt hours). From January 1, 2023, the price for the supply of electricity for these customers will be capped at 199 euros per megawatt hour and the price for the supply of natural gas at 99 euros per megawatt hour. The listed prices are without VAT and refer to power electricity/commodity, and thus are without other components of the final price.
