The Attorney General’s Office has gathered evidence that points to Edgardo J, a 43-year-old teacher from San Jacinto (Bolívar), for allegedly demanding money from colleagues in Antioquia to irregularly manage their job transfers.

According to the investigation, the man is believed to have facilitated the transfer of at least eight educators from schools in rural areas to educational institutions in Medellín.

The accused allegedly requested between 2 and 6 million pesos from each teacher to process location changes before higher authorities, arguing health problems, family reasons or threats from armed groups once morest the applicants.

As a result of these alleged illegal actions, the professor would have received a total of 40 million pesos through transfers and deposits to his bank accounts between 2018 and 2022.

After collecting evidence, the teacher was arrested in San Jacinto (Bolívar) by the DIJIN of the National Police. Later, a prosecutor from the Medellín Section charged him with the crime of extortion during the respective hearing. Despite the charge, the accused did not accept the charges once morest him.

By order of a judge of control of guarantees, Edgardo must serve a preventive measure in a prison while the judicial process once morest him continues.
