Log-In Logística Intermodal increases investments in professional qualification
Log-In Logística Intermodal, a group of logistics solutions, port handling and navigation of Cabotage and Mercosul, in addition to operations on the road, has intensified its efforts in developing and training its teams, especially maritime, with a focus on professional qualification training , leadership and diversity.
Between January and September 2023, more than 12 thousand hours of training for professional development were carried out, impacting around 350 professionals
As a result of this process, from January to September 2023, more than 12 thousand hours of training were carried out in order to promote the qualification of its professionals. As a result of training and development initiatives, the company intends to achieve excellence in its seafarer workforce, and promote professional recognition. This year, more than 30 crew members were recognized through internal promotions and around 350 employees benefited from the various initiatives carried out.
According to the Brazilian Training and Development Association (ABTD), in 2022 alone, investment in training and development in Brazilian companies recorded an increase of 34%. In this sense, Log-In has followed this trend, standing out for the robustness of its Individual Development Plan (PDI), especially for seafarers, which includes training covering regulatory standards, seafarer onboarding, basic instrumentation, Load Master, among others. .
The company’s objectives include strengthening the quality of its employees’ training, attracting and retaining talent, increasing creativity and innovation, improving internal communication, as well as diversity, equity and inclusion in the company and logistics sector.
According to Log-In’s Director of People, Management and Information Technology, Andréa Simões, the expansion of qualification projects plays a fundamental role in the company’s business strategy. “The focus on training all employees, with training aligned to reality and daily demands, optimizes decision-making, creates procedural standards and increases motivation, contributing to the reduction of employee turnover”, she explains.
Team evaluation
The executive clarifies that, annually, a committee of seafarers is held to evaluate the sea team. In this way, employees who require training and development are identified, whether in the technical, behavioral or leadership areas, according to each person’s learning curve.
In addition, there are investments in courses in the Professional Maritime Education Program (PREPOM), in which the employee is absent for the entire period on paid leave in order to improve their knowledge and increase one level in the maritime position. “If there is a vacancy opportunity, whether through PREPOM or the boarding time that the employee acquires with the new category, we update our strategic pipeline”, explains Andréa.
Another highlight of the company in relation to professional qualification was the launch of its Corporate University (UniLog-In), which allows all employees, online at flexible times, to take courses to advance their professional career, disseminating knowledge to employees and serving each business area of the company for complete training and growth in the role. In total, 166 courses have already been made available, including the Nautical and Machinery Seminar 2023 and several live lectures, in addition to 82 online courses so that everyone has the opportunity to access them from anywhere, at any time, via computer or cell phone.
Andréa notes that the model arose from the need to qualify employees in a way linked to Log-In business strategies. “The corporate university was an important acquisition for the company. It’s an incredible opportunity to optimize organizational strategies focused on personal development, not just professional development”, he reinforces.
Focus on diversity in professional qualifications
In addition to the already recognized “Women in Operation” and “Navegar” programs, which aim to strengthen the female presence in leadership positions in the company, Log-In has obtained important results from other projects that aim to promote social agendas, in synergy with the robust ESG (environmental, social and corporate governance) strategy pursued by the company.
Between 2020 and 2023, the company recorded a 175% increase in the number of people with disabilities in its workforce, as a result of the Include Program. Furthermore, 75% of participants in the PRIG Program were hired. The project, carried out in partnership with Instituto Primeira Geração, aims to support the professional development of recent graduates who are the first person in their family to complete their degree. The Young Apprentice program, aimed at Communities, impacted 75 young people between 2021 and 2023, nine of which were hired by Log-In.
In addition to these initiatives, the company also has “Encontro com Elas”, whose objective is to open a space for speeches, exchange of experiences and generate connection, aimed at the fronts: Administrative Women, Women of the Sea and Women of the Terminals. There is also the “Meeting with Them (Masculinity)”, developed to address the theme of Masculinity and Fatherhood, covering topics and interactions such as: awareness, deconstruction of stereotypes and inclusive communication, the main challenges of current fatherhood and, also, which In many ways, machismo is harmful to both men and women.
Andréa explains that, for 2024, it is imperative that the company immerse itself in local communities in connection with a Continuing Education project for professional qualification, in addition to other initiatives. “One of the objectives is to restructure the Navegar Program, with the addition of new challenges within the current project. In our PMO (Project Management Office) planning, we have mapped out some initiatives that increase our commitment to minority groups, mentoring programs and active recruitment of diverse candidates”, she concludes.
