There are forty four products that are exempt from the provisions of the Ministry of Development on promotional actions to deal with food waste when they have a close expiry date.
It is recalled that by amending the decisions of the Ministry of Development 6969/30-01-2024 and 92566/11-10-2023, the exemption from the prohibition of carrying out promotional actions, for 3 months, on products for which there has been a previous price increase provided that these are close to their expiration date. For these, a special marking is required that will state “Product with near expiry date”. The aim, among other things, is to deal with phenomena of food waste (food waste) or the destruction of stocks that might be made available at particularly low prices to interested consumers. “With this amendment, a mutual benefit is achieved for businesses and consumers, while promoting the adoption of new environmentally sustainable behaviors by citizens and the supply chain” as underlined by the Ministry of Development.
