Production taxes: employers are up against the plan to spread the drop over four years

2023-08-21 17:07:11

Next week, Elisabeth Borne must make – like last year – a great speech for the economic return to the Meeting of the entrepreneurs of France, the summer university of the Medef. The reception had been rather chilly in 2023, will it lose a few more degrees this year? The government’s decision to spread out the reduction in production taxes arouses strong annoyance from employers, who denounce a questioning of the supply policy and appeal to Emmanuel Macron.

During his presidential campaign in 2022, the Head of State had promised a new stage of lowering production taxes following the reduction of 10 billion in the first five-year term, by removing around 8 billion from the contribution on the added value of companies (CVAE ). A large sum difficult to digest, which had already led the government to a first adjustment last year: it had been decided to limit the drop to 4 billion in 2023, the other 4 billion being postponed to 2024.
