Production of the Ford F-150 Lightning electric pickup on hold

Ford is putting production and export of its F-150 Lightning electric pickup on hold due to unidentified battery issues.

The automaker confirmed the news on Tuesday, according to Bloomberg.

Manufacturing, which is done at a factory in Dearborn, Michigan, will be on hold while engineers find a solution to a “potential quality problem” discovered on a vehicle at the factory.

Ford said in an emailed statement that it does not ship pickups in transit to dealerships.

Demand for this pickup has been high since Ford launched the battery-powered model of America’s best-selling vehicle since April.
