In fact, this concerns seven ice cream from the Häagen-Dazs brand. These lots had to be taken off the shelves following the discovery of carcinogenic components. It was the American group George Mills that sounded the alarm. This element in question is 2-Chloroethanol. The latter is an indicator of the presence of ethylene oxide, a carcinogenic pesticidein these ice creams.
This product recall campaign was announced by the Belgian Federal Food Safety Agency (AFSCA). As the latter specified, these are stores such as Albert Heijn and Intermarché who marketed these batches. We also found some at Jumbo.
According to the information received, the problem comes froma vanilla supplier. Consequently, Georges Mills recalled the products containing vanilla from this supplier.
Product recall: ice cream recalled in France
This is not at all the first time that ice cream from Häagen-Dazs are the subject of a food scandal. Remember that on August 4, 2022, the Belgians have already withdrawn ten products from the brand in supermarkets. For good reason, France had alerted them, on July 8, 2022, through the RASFF system, to the presence of ethylene oxide in these ice creams.
Since then, several members of the European Union have done the same in their stores. Nor did they forget towarn customers regarding the risks consumption of these products.
In the case of France, it had withdrawn 18 glasses of Häagen-Dazs following this product recall. A withdrawal which took place on August 5, 2022.

Some batches of cakes that one should avoid
It’s not just with ice cream that you have to be careful. A product recall campaign also affects certain batches of cakes sold in supermarkets.
It is also rather unfortunate that this concerns children’s favorite products. Indeed, on August 3, 2022, we were told that certain cakes sold in supermarkets are prohibited for consumption.
For good reason, they contain foreign bodies such as glass, metal, plastic, textiles and even paper. The products concerned are pound cakes of 250, 500 and 800 g. The Marbled Bar of 500 g of the P’tit Déli brand was also affected by this product recall.
Note that all these cakes were sold at Leclerc between June 17 and August 3, 2022. Several lots are concerned. Here are their GTINs: 3564700487464, 3564700019481, 3564700019474 as well as 3564700793770. Their date of minimum durability is between August 15 and September 12, 2022.
Following the discovery of these foreign bodies in these cakes, we will therefore advise each of us to do not consume. Our digestive system might indeed be injured by swallowing the products concerned. So, if you bought some, you can either return these cakes to the store where you bought them, or call consumer service.
It must be recognized that the reminders products become more and more frequent in France. After the nuggets, contaminated as well as the ice creams, it is now the cakes that are affected. Therefore, the editorial staff advises you to always be attentive so as not to miss product recalls. This may help you avoid the worst.
