Product recall: beware, these cheeses are potentially contaminated with Listeria

Listeriosis is a disease that can be serious and has an incubation period of up to eight weeks.

Coulommiers, brie, normanville… This Tuesday, April 5, a national campaign to recall several raw milk cheeses was launched. These products sold in France by many brands may contain the bacterium Listeria monocytogenes, responsible for listeriosisindicates the site rappel.conso.gouv.fr.

Which cheeses are affected?

The recall targets the following cheeses:

  • the Coulommiers with raw milk 350g Franprix, with barcode 3263859343712 in lot 250222LI9. It was distributed by Franprix and marketed between March 22 and April 4;
  • the Normanville raw milk cheese, whose barcode is 3252950011002 in batch 250222LI9. It was marketed by Auchan, Leclerc, Cora, Système U and Schiever between March 17 and April 4;
  • the Brie with raw milk 1kg from the brand E.Graindorge, with the following identifiers: 3252950000877 for the barcode, 250222LI9 for the lot. It was sold between March 15 and April 4 by AuchanLeclerc, Casino, Cora and System U;
  • the Coulommiers of the same brand (E.Graindorge) “on raw milk straw” is also recalled. The lot concerned is 250222LI9, and the barcode 3252950010012, sold at Auchan, Leclerc, Casino, Carrefour, Système U and Intermarché between March 10 and April 4.

These four cheeses are the subject of a food recall for “listeria monocytogenes”, the causative agent of listeriosis. People who have consumed the products mentioned above and who present fever, isolated or accompanied by headaches, and body aches, are invited to consult their doctor, notifying him of this consumption.

Severe forms with neurological complications and maternal or fetal damage in pregnant women can also sometimes occur. Pregnant women as well as immunocompromised people and the elderly should be especially alert to these symptoms.
