Today, as part of the activities of the third day of the 25th Ismailia International Documentary and Short Film Festival, the feature documentary film “Life is Sweet” by director Muhammad Al-Jabali, which is participating in the feature documentary competition, was screened at the Ismailia Culture Palace. Following the film, a symposium was held attended by its Palestinian producer, Muhannad Yaqoubi. The symposium was moderated by writer and critic Noura Anwar.

At the beginning, producer Muhannad Yaqoubi said: “I produced for director Muhammad Al-Jabali the movie “The Ambulance,” which was shown before his last film, “Life is Sweet,” and I spoke to him at the time “The Ambulance” was shown, and he was starting to implement “Life is Sweet,” and we decided to present this work as a second collaboration. Among Us, which documents Muhammad al-Jabali’s journey over 7 years of suffering due to his inability to return to Gaza.

Muhannad added: “Life is sweet. He does not talk about the war in Gaza directly, but he discusses the journey of director Muhammad Al-Jabali, in immigrating and completing his education, and at the same time his inability to return to Gaza due to the war on Palestine. The story of the film is very similar to the suffering of many Young people who immigrate abroad, regardless of the hero’s identity, whether he is Palestinian or of another nationality.”

He pointed out that the reason why director Muhammad Al-Jabali documented his life or his personal experience resulted from his ability to narrate and tell more about himself, and at the same time a kind of documentation of his difficult journey.
