State Owned Enterprises Governance and Operations Bill approved
The Senate also unanimously passed the State-Owned Institutions Governance and Operations Bill.
According to the bill, the performance of directors of state-owned enterprises will be evaluated and their removal will be recommended based on that.
“The board evaluation committee will check the performance of the institution and the federal government will terminate them on their recommendations.”
Federal Law Minister Azam Nazir Tarar, giving the details of the bill, said that the procedure for removing the directors who are not working in the state institutions has been given in the bill.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf parliamentary leader Senator Ali Zafar said that there are other motives behind the bill.
‘The Board of Directors cannot be removed by show cause notice without passing legislation. They want to remove the board of directors. Their aim is to sell some state-owned enterprises. Their aim is to bring their people on board so that the institutions are sold understated value.’
