Pro-Russian rebels are sent to Donbass to reduce casualties of regular Russian troops

The British Ministry of Defense… The same ‘proxy infantry’ as during the Syrian civil war

Russia is mobilizing pro-Russian separatists to fight in the Donbas region of eastern Ukraine, the British Defense Ministry said on the 5th (local time).

The British Ministry of Defense analyzed that in the last 24 hours, the Ukrainian army counterattacked at Severodonetsk, a key strategic point on the Eastern Front, and it is highly likely to slow the Russian offensive by concentrating its forces and firepower.

It also said that the Russian army in the region includes the reserve forces of the Russian-led separatist forces of the self-proclaimed Luhansk People’s Republic (LPR), which lack the equipment and lack of training compared to the regular Russian army.

The British Defense Ministry explained that the use of proxy infantry by the Russian army was a tactic previously used in Syria and appeared to be intended to reduce casualties of its regular troops.
