Pro League – Genk inflicts Westerlo its first defeat of the season

A goal from Austrian Nikolas Sattlberger (81st) was enough for Genk to beat Westerlo in the opening match of the 6th day of the Belgian championship. In the standings, the Limburgers (3rd with 5 matches) have 10 points as do the Campinois (2nd with 6 matches) and Anderlecht (1st with 4 matches).

In the first half, the match did not really attract the attention of the 17,518 spectators. The first dangerous situation came from a flash of class from Konstantinos Karetsaswho sent a nice deep pass which Jarne Steuckers did not take advantage (10th). Genk tried again to make the difference but a long-distance shot from Bryan Heynen went wide of the post (15th) and a header from Toluwalase Arokodare lacked power (21st).

Westerlo, who relied on the speed ofGoddess Sayyadmanesh et Griffin Yownever worried Hendrik Van Crombrugge. The Campinois however came close to the opening goal by Matian Frigan who, surprised to receive the ball, did not frame his attempt at close range at (51st). Racing, who had a lucky escape, started to feed Arokodare well again but the Nigerian arrived a little too short on a cross from Zakaria El Ouadhi (62nd) and sent the ball onto the crossbar (63rd). Yira Rowwho found himself facing Sinan Bolatwas not more precise than his teammate (70th). On the other hand, the Westerlo goalkeeper was less inspired when he released a free kick from Steuckers and allowed reserve Sattlberger to score his first goal in the championship (81st, 1-0).
