Year following year, NFL fans around the world also make their voices heard when what they consider to be the best players of the season are chosen – for the so-called Pro Bowl, which is now being held as a nice entertainment in the week before the Super Bowl. Big names made it onto the list, but neither did other big names.
The Pro Bowl will take place on February 5, 2023 in Las Vegas. The NFL athletes who then take part – some of whom withdraw year following year due to injuries and other reasons – then play entertaining mini-games to get in the mood for the week leading up to the Super Bowl. That’s why the event commonly known as the Pro Bowl, which in the past also took the form of a duel between AFC and NFC players, is now also called the “Pro Bowl Games”.
The names on the big list this year were once once more determined by fans worldwide voting online, but also by players and coaches. With the following result: The strong Philadelphia Eagles lead the ranking with eight nominated players, followed by the Dallas Cowboys (seven), Kansas City Chiefs (seven), Baltimore Ravens (six), San Francisco 49ers (six) and Minnesota Vikings ( five).

However, well-known stars such as running back Christian McCaffrey from the Niners or Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, who received the most votes from fans but didn’t make it, are missing. Here in the AFC, Tua has to give way to quarterbacks Joe Burrow (Cincinnati Bengals), Patrick Mahomes (Kansas City Chiefs) and Josh Allen (Buffalo Bills). This can also lead to a personal setback with regard to the outstanding honors from the league (MVP, Comeback of the Year, Rookie of the Year), as players with Pro Bowl votes are given preference in close elections. Big names like playmaker Justin Fields (Chicago Bears) and receiver Jaylen Waddle (Miami Dolphins) also didn’t make it.
Incidentally, the Chicago Bears and the Jacksonville Jaguars are the only teams on the list that do not have a Pro Bowler in 2022/23.
