“Pro Athlete Prank Wars: Sidney Crosby and Justin Thomas’ Epic Restaurant Battle”

It’s known, professional athletes like to shoot each other. Sidney Crosby and golfer Justin Thomas combined their efforts in a restaurant prank war earlier this year.

It was Thomas, one of the best golfers in the PGA and proud supporter of the “Pens”, who told this excellent anecdote during an episode of the podcast “The Smylie Show”, hosted by golfer Smylie Kaufman.

The Pittsburgh Penguins captain and a few teammates, including Jake Guentzel, were having their evening meal at a restaurant in Palmetto Bluff, South Carolina, when he was approached by Thomas. He was just sitting at a table with Jordan Spieth, Rickie Fowler and Kaufman, as well as their wives.

Returning from a round of golf a few days following the National League season ended, Crosby got the ball rolling by sending a fine bottle of wine to the golfers’ table. In a joking mood, they plotted with the server to have him serve a rather minimalist Caesar salad to the hockey players, since it consisted only of a lettuce leaf and a crouton.

Quickly responding to the joke, Crosby and his gang sent over a tray of what looked like shot glasses of tequila. In the end, it was all regarding water shooters. What did Thomas and company order in return: glasses of milk to go well with the dessert.

The golfer tried to pay Crosby’s table bill, but the Penguins responded with the perfect cue.

“I believe they fired [la facture] saying no, we know you missed the cut at the Masters, you shouldn’t pay for that, or something like that, Thomas recounted. These hockey players are full of spirit. It was pretty fun.”

Crosby needs to keep busy this spring, with Pittsburgh only missing the playoffs for the third time in 18 years.
