Prizes of the Ministry of Culture – for Lithuanian filmmakers who won laurels at the Locarno Festival Culture

By the order of the Minister of Culture, the prizes were awarded to director Saula Bliuvaita and producer Giedra Burokaita, who won the main prize of the festival – the “Golden Leopard” – of the film “Akiplėda“.

Prizes are also awarded to Laurynas Bareiša, the director of the film “Sesės”, which won the “Leopard” for the best director award at this festival, and also to the acting team of this film, which received the “Leopard” for the best acting: actors Gelmina Glemžaita, Agne Kaktaita, Giedrii Kiela and Paulis Markevičiis.

The prize of the Ministry of Culture for the most important international awards received in the field of culture was established in 2019. Its size is 20 thousand. euros. The awards are given in order to evaluate the contribution of natural and legal persons who have received the most important international awards in the field of culture in promoting the name of Lithuania in the world. If several creators received the award for the same work or activity, the bonus is distributed equally to everyone.

This rating has already been earned by the creative team of the opera-performance “Sun and Sea” which was awarded the “Golden Lion” at the Venice Biennale of Contemporary Art, the creators of the documentary film “Bridges of Time”, which won the “Golden Cup” award at the Shanghai International Film Festival, opera soloist Asmik Grigorian for the international the Opera Soloist of the Year prize at the opera awards, the creative team of the feature film “Pilgrimai”, which won the best film award (black lion statuette) at the 78th Venice Film Festival in the competition program of the “Horizontai” festival, Marija Kavtaradze and the film “You Don’t Remember Me” (eng. . Slow) creative team for winning the award for best direction in the World Cinema Dramatic Competition at the prestigious Sundance (USA) film festival.
