Strasbourg (ots) – At this year’s “Prix Italia” two ARTE co-productions received awards: the series “And Outside the Night” (ARTE France/Rai Fiction) by Marco Bellocchio was awarded the Special Prize of the President of the Republic of Italy and the documentary film “Dance is Art: Cunningham” (BR/ARTE, SRG SSR/RSI) from Alla Kovgan awarded in the TV Performing Arts category. This year’s edition of the competition took place in Bari (Puglia) from October 2nd to 6th, 2023. The “Prix Italia” is one of the oldest international competitions for radio, television and the Internet and was held for the 75th time this year.

In his first series goes filmmaker Marco Bellocchio (“Il Traditore – As a key witness against the Cosa Nostra”, “Vincere”) gets to the bottom of Aldo Moro’s kidnapping in 1978, which had already inspired him to make the film “Buongiorno, notte – The Aldo Moro Case” 20 years ago. In the Jury statement becomes “And outside the night” “(…) as a masterpiece of audiovisual storytelling” as well as thanks to outstanding directing and screenplay work “a story about the past” praised, “who speaks to the present with a clear voice.”
