Falco ( 1998), Elfriede Jelinek and Joe Zawinul (2007) have one thing in common: they completed their training at the Private University of Music and Art in the City of Vienna. And these are just a few of the many famous graduates.
In order to show who actually studied here, a portrait gallery was created that runs through the entire house. Some of the alumni came together on Tuesday morning to present their pictures.
“There are memories of making music together, but also times when you had to persevere,” said the star violinist Lydia Baich to the COURIER.
The actors Verena Altenberger and Markus Freistätter (chairman of the “MUK.alumni” association) met their former lecturer Katharina Stemberger. “They were the first people I was allowed to teach, and I was very lucky because they were very open and gentle with me,” said Stemberger.

What Altenberger particularly appreciated regarding her teacher was “that she created the protected framework of an acting course in which you can try things out without being forced to deliver a finished product in a certain amount of time.”
It was also particularly important for Freistätters to learn the craft of acting from the very beginning. “It’s a profession that you have to learn. It’s like being a carpenter who also has to know what types of wood there are.”
Also an operetta diva Birgit Sarata attended the university at the time and knew at the age of four that she wanted to pursue this career. “Back then I sang with enthusiasm at the Heurigen.”
