MINISTER OF PPN/Bappenas Suharso Monoarfa said that the government is encouraging the private sector to participate in the development of the Indonesian Capital City (IKN) phase 2. If the first phase of development is focused on government office buildings, then the second phase is more on the development of public facilities like a city.
“Well, that’s the next stage, we will encourage more of it to be initiated by the private sector. Driven by the private sector, whether domestic or foreign. Because now we are ensuring that the city is ready to become a city to support the implementation of the government, which is now the targeting,” he said, Tuesday (17/9).
He explained that the second phase of the IKN development is to form an economic crowd. For that, there must be more private sector contributions, for example building malls, shops, schools and other public facilities.
“So this second phase will be more there, for example, construction for shops or malls, construction of hospitals has now started, then schools and then later what are the other developments for the economic crowd,” he explained.
So far, Suharso said, private interest in participating in building IKN phase 2 is quite high. He said around 40 domestic investors have expressed their desire to work on IKN.
“I think there are already quite a lot, around more than 40 private companies that have entered there, if with foreigners there are probably around almost 80. But when will they start that, I think it can be asked to the Authority,” he said. (Z-9)
