His name is Agios Athanasios. It is one of the smallest private islands in Greece and is located in the Gulf of Corinth, opposite Itea. A shop has entered the island on an international luxury real estate classifieds site, for an amount of 2.2 million euros, and for the real estate market it is considered… a great opportunity.
It should be noted that in 2012 the same island was sold for 1,600,000 euros, but all these years there was no buyer. Nevertheless, its current owner is selling it more expensively, probably because he saw that the value of the land has increased in recent years, with Greece becoming a magnet for foreign investments in real estate, due to the provision of the golden visa.
Agios Athanasios is the smallest island on the Greek real estate market – just 11,000 square meters – and is even accessible by boat from the nearby coastal town of Itea, as it is only one kilometer from the coast. Olive trees and pine trees cover its interior, while a small sandy beach marks the northwest coast.
The list of islands for sale is long. It is not widely known, but today in Greece there are 150 privately owned islands, which are sold in international classifieds or are willing to be sold.
The most expensive and perhaps the most beautiful of the islands on the list. The island of Atokos is located in the Ionian sea, very close to Lefkada and Ithaca, it has only one house and a small church, but many enchanting beaches. Its price reaches 45,000,000 euros.
However, cases of successful sales of islands in Greece are not common. With the exception of Grivalia’s 250 million euro investment in the largest island of the Petalia complex and Russian tycoon Dmitry Rybolovlev’s oldest project in Scorpio, which aims to build a resort for members of the international jet set, we have not (yet? ) other such cases.
This is because it is not an “easy” and “problem-free” investment, as real estate market professionals say. Even if private islands are offered on the market, their prices are cheaper than those required to acquire a detached house or a luxury apartment in prominent areas.
