The citizen was sentenced to 17 years, following being arrested in September 2021 by officers of the scientific police.
A woman was sentenced to 17 years and 7 months in prison for trafficking a minor in the Sifontes municipality, in the south of Bolívar state.
The victim’s mother reported the disappearance of her daughter on September 6, 2021, before officials of the Scientific, Criminal and Criminal Investigation Corps (Cicpc).
The young woman would have gone to a weight lifting training in a gym located in that town.
When the 15-year-old girl returned home, she told her mother that a citizen tricked her into taking her to the Cuatro Muertos sector, where she forced her to prostitute herself in exchange for grams of gold.
The 37-year-old citizen was captured and was placed under the order of the Eighth Prosecutor of the Public Ministry, in Ciudad Bolívar, who charged her with trafficking in women, girls and adolescents, according to the Organic Law on the Right of Women to a Life Free of Violence.
The sentence was handed down by the Second Court of Ciudad Bolívar.
According to information from the Public Ministry, the citizen is being held at the Bolívar State Police headquarters.
