Prison authorities steal money from José Daniel Ferrer’s phone cards CubaNet

MADRID, Spain.- Ana Belkis Ferrer, sister of the Cuban political prisoner José Daniel Ferrer García, warned about “possible brutal attacks” in prison against the opponent, who this Wednesday decided to hold a day of fasting.

As Ana Belkis explained through social networks, this fast was in response to the abuses against him: “They are shamelessly stealing the money from the cards that are brought to him by his wife to make the weekly telephone calls that correspond to him.”

“It is not enough for them to limit them (calls) to ten minutes, but they also steal your balance and then claim that they present certain problems, all with the marked intention of preventing your message from leaving the four walls where they keep you kidnapped alone. , in cruel, inhuman and degrading conditions, under physical and psychological torture, subjected to the experiments that the evil tyrants fancy,” denounced the sister of the leader of the Patriotic Union of Cuba (UNPACU).

This same week Nelva Ortega, Ferrer’s wife, told Radio Television Martí that in his recent visit to the Mar Verde prison, in Santiago de Cuba, José Daniel explained to him that “in the last phone call he realized that the fifth card of his own (for prepaid calls) that I have brought him, was activated with 450 pesos and that, thanks to one that I whispered in his ear on the day of the eighth conjugal visit, that I told him the digits (PIN), he was able to call me”.

“All this, with the aim of shutting him up, of silencing him, and he keeps saying no to the electoral farce; that he will maintain his firm position as a matter of principle and honor and that he prefers to stay in prison for life before staining his honor, ”said Nelva Ortega.

José Daniel Ferrer was arrested on July 11, 2021 (11J) when he was preparing to join the popular demonstrations. They transferred him to a cell in the Versalles torture center, and at the beginning of August they sent him from there to the Mar Verde prison, where he has been since then and without a trial date.

During all this time, the prison authorities have kept him in a cell in inhuman, cruel and degrading conditions, isolated from the penal community and subjected to repudiation rallies, despite his delicate state of health.
