Prior to this, he received an eight-year prison sentence for sexually assaulting his four-year-old daughter.

The defendant had committed his first rapes of young children in the early 2000s. He was sentenced in 2010 by the Brussels Court of Appeal to eight years in prison for the rape of his four-year-old daughter, indecent assaults on his 16-year-old son, and rape and indecent assaults on his niece.

In 2014, the defendant was given a new sentence of five years in prison for raping a seven-year-old girl while on prison leave.

In January 2020, he was released on parole and taken in by his sister. However, just twenty days following his release, he sexually abused his four-year-old niece and committed acts of indecent assault.

The public prosecutor’s office has pointed out the defendant’s dangerous personality as he has a history of committing similar crimes every time he leaves prison. The Advocate General is requesting a sentence of ten years in prison and a provision for the court to enforce sentences for fifteen years.

The defense has requested a slightly lower sentence.

The verdict is expected to be delivered on May 16.

The defendant had committed his first rapes of young children in the early 2000s. He had been sentenced in 2010 by the Brussels Court of Appeal to an initial sentence of eight years for having committed the rape of his daughter aged four years old, indecent assaults on her 16-year-old son, and rape and indecent assaults on her niece.

In 2014, the defendant had endorsed a new sentence of five years in prison for committing the rape of a seven-year-old girl while on prison leave.

In January 2020, he had been taken in by his sister following being granted parole. Twenty days following this release, he had abused his four-year-old niece and had committed acts of indecent assault.

Dangerous personality

The public prosecutor’s office has pinpointed the dangerous personality of the defendant who, for 20 years, has committed acts of morals each time he leaves prison. The Advocate General requested a sentence of 10 years in prison and a provision to the court for the enforcement of sentences for a period of 15 years.

The defense requested a slightly lower sentence than requested.

Judgment will be delivered on May 16.

In the case of the defendant’s heinous crimes once morest young children, it’s clear that his dangerous personality poses a significant threat to society. Despite previous sentences, it’s horrifying to see that he continued to commit atrocious acts even following being granted parole. The prosecution has rightfully requested a severe sentence and measures for the enforcement of sentences, while the defense has also recognized his culpability. It’s our hope that justice will be served when the judgment is delivered on May 16th, and that measures will be taken to ensure the safety of all children moving forward.
