Being a British royal involves being in the public eye – and being constantly evaluated by it. Princess Eugenie (33) also had this uncomfortable experience. The niece of King Charles III. This constant external assessment took a huge toll, as she revealed in the “Table Manners” podcast.
“I think that definitely caused me some problems with eating,” Princess Eugenie said, going on to say that she has a lot of trouble with “the fact that I have to look a certain way because they always say: ‘That wasn’t a nice outfit,’ or ‘She looked terrible’.”
She often felt very insecure because of this, but she was aware that this malice and ridicule from outside affects everyone who is in the public eye. A circumstance that she did not choose herself as the granddaughter of the late Queen Elizabeth II.

It all started in her early teens. “I guess in our family it happens at the perfect age, where you’re 13 and you’ve got this stupid pot haircut and you’re a bit chubby. All the boys bully you and stuff like that,” the 33-year-old said in the podcast.
But now her life is much easier. This mainly has to do with the move to Portugal. The Brit lives there with her husband Jack Brooksbank and their two sons August (2) and Ernest (six months). It was a “dream” to live there, she told singer Jessie Ware and her mother Lennie, the two podcast hosts. “I can go to the supermarket in my gym clothes and with my hair on my head and I don’t mind. I do not care. Nobody cares.”
She also opened up regarding her struggle with losing weight following giving birth to Ernest in May this year: “Society dictates that you have to shed your baby weight” but “it drives me crazy”.
