Princess Diana’s Ford Escort RS Turbo goes under the hammer for $26 million

According to the Silverstone website, the car was the last Ford Escort owned by Princess Diana, Princess of Wales, with 24,961 miles (40,170 kilometers) between 1985 and 1988. all for her. Diana drove the car around Chelsea and Kensington for 6,800 miles before returning it to Ford. According to the Silverstone website, the car was later owned by multiple owners before returning to Ford.

Silverstone did not announce the auction winner.

According to the Silverstone website, the Ford Escort RS Turbo Series 1 is usually painted in white, but the royal family asked Ford to create a black version of Diana in order to keep it “low profile”. Arwel Richards, a classic car specialist at Silverstone Auctions, told Archyde.com earlier this week that driving the car was a “very brave choice” for Diana.

Next week will be the 25th anniversary of Diana’s death, the 36-year-old who died in a car accident in Paris, France, while avoiding the paparazzi.
