On March 22, 2024, Kate Middleton caused shock waves around the world by announcing that she was suffering from cancer and have started chemotherapy. Since then, the couple she formed with theprince William had remained discreet, preferring to refocus, obviously, on their family life and Kate’s health. But the prince has now come out of his reserve. William made his first public appearance since his wife’s terrible announcement. The father of George, Charlotte and Louis traveled to Surrey to cook for the food distribution charity Surplus to Supper which distributes leftover food to those in need and to care homes. Volunteer Rachel Candappa, 71, had the chance to see Prince William up close and even gave him two get well cards addressed to King Charles (also suffering from cancer) and to Kate.

William, visibly moved, said: “THANKS. You are very kind“. Subsequently, as reported by The Sunwhen Rachel asked Prince William to watch over Kate Middleton, he placed his left hand on her shoulder and promised her: “I will do it“.

During this day, the prince also helped chef Mario Colfait prepare bolognese, sausage stew and chili con carne. THE brother of Prince Harry was then given a huge knife and asked to cut celery which he then had to place in a pot. Obviously not very comfortable behind the stove, he then joked regarding the fact that he was afraid of cutting his fingers: “This is the biggest knife I’ve seen, I hope everything goes well. Normally, I’m never trusted with a knife. Since I’m very clumsy, it’s likely I’ll cut my finger“.

The prince donated unused food from the kitchen cupboards of Adelaide Cottage where he lives with Kate Middleton and the children to the charity. He mingled with volunteers who explained to him how they sorted food and non-perishable items before packaging them and sending them to those most in need. Another notable anecdote from that day, Lady Di’s son also told his hosts that his son Louis “loved“cricket. William succeeded in the challenge of this outing with flying colors, a very honorable and courageous feat given the circumstances…
