Two days before the funeral War Elizabeth IIhis eight grandchildren including Prince William and Harry was assigned to guard around the coffin. At the request of King Charles, Prince Harry donned his military uniform for the first time since 2020.
Since he died, Prince Harry wearing civilian clothes at public events since the queen died. This is the first time in the history of the 8 grandchildren from taking part in the ceremony.
The 8 grandchildren who stand guard around Queen Elizabeth II’s coffin besides William and Harry, are Peter Phillips and Zara Tindall or Princess Anne’s children. There are also children of Prince Andrew namely Princess Beatrice, Eugenie.

As well as Lady Louise Windsor and James, Viscount Severn who were the children of Prince Edward. He is the youngest child of Queen Elizabeth II.
Peter Phillips became the eldest grandson of the queen, while the youngest was James, Viscount Severn who was now only 14 years old.
Prince William leads a group of grandchildren as they enter Westminster Hall, London, England. Upon entering the castle, their heads held high until they were around Queen Elizabeth II’s coffin, the 8 grandchildren began to bow their heads.
The eldest son of King Charles stood at the head of the Queen’s coffin and his brother at the opposite end. The babysitting starts at 6:01 p.m. London time and lasts regarding 15 minutes.
Earlier on Friday night, the Queen’s children including the king performed a similar procession, and stood guard for regarding 10 minutes. In a joint statement, they said Queen Elizabeth II was a dear grandmother.
“It is an honor for our lives to be your granddaughter and we are very proud,” said Beatrice and Eugenie.
“The Queen is our matriarch, our guide, our loving hand, and leads us through this world. You never know the impact it has on our family and so many people around the world.”
