Prince William demands rent from his father
The Llwynywermod estate is one of King Charles’ favorite places to stay. Now Prince William wants to rent the house as a holiday home, much to the monarch’s annoyance.

After the death of Queen Elizabeth II and the accession of his father to the throne, Prince William took over the lands of the Duchy of Cornwall.
The 41-year-old is now responsible for King Charles’ favorite estate, Llwynywermod in Wales, which the Duchy of Cornwall bought in 2007.
Now William would like to offer the property as a holiday home and therefore asks the 74-year-old monarch to clear away his belongings. King Charles is said to be “not amused” about it.

“The king was quite upset, but that was the deal,” a source told the Daily Mail. ‘He can continue to vacation there, but he will pay rent to the Duchy. In March 2007, Llwynywermod was purchased by the Duchy of Cornwall as a residence for the Prince of Wales. Since the 14th century, duty has passed to the heir to the throne and is administered by him in trust. It should provide for his income. Charles, then Prince of Wales and Duke of Cornwall, had the property lovingly restored shortly after purchase.
William and Kate want to boost tourism
The interiors were designed by the sister of the current Queen Camilla (75), Annabel Elliot, in an elegant but rustic style, and architect Craig Hamilton was responsible for everything else. At the request of the king, the entire building is sustainable. With the death of Queen Elizabeth in September 2022 and the accession of Charles, the duchy has passed to Prince William, the new Prince of Wales and Duke of Cambridge and Cornwall.
Palace sources told the British newspaper that the heir to the throne and his wife Kate, 41, would like to spend more time in Wales. During their stays, they then want to stay in bed and breakfasts and vacation rentals, rather than in a royal residence. The couple wants to boost the tourism industry in the region.
