Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown is set to be released in just a few weeks, and as the release of the 2D action-adventure game approaches, we’re getting more and more information about what we can expect.
exist Game Informer In a preview, game director Mounir Radi opened up about the game’s origins and what made the developers choose this sleek 2D look.
“It was never 2D from the beginning,” Lardy began. “I had the opportunity to make some 2D prototypes, but before going in, we researched the Prince of Persia series to make sure we understood all the legacy.
“I wanted to recall the fear and isolation I felt playing 2D games,” Radi continued. “And also pushing for a lot of experimentation with the power of time. This all leads to the metroidvania style we see today in Lost Crown.
Additionally, in the same interview, it was confirmed that the game will last around 25 hours, which is quite impressive considering its style. We’ll have more to say when Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown launches on Xbox, PlayStation, Switch, and PC on January 18th.
