On Friday, a session of Saudi-French talks began in Paris, following Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman arrived at the Elysee Palace, where he was received by French President Emmanuel Macron.

The Saudi-French talks include several international files, most notably Lebanon, Iraq and Sudan, in addition to the Russian-Ukrainian war and ways for Saudi Arabia to contribute to accelerating the end of the war at the request of France. The discussions also include bilateral relations in several areas, including economic, military and cultural.

The Saudi Crown Prince had arrived, earlier, at the Elysee Palace as part of his official visit to France.

During the visit, Prince Mohammed bin Salman will also lead his country’s delegation participating in the “For a New Global Financial Pact” summit, which will be held in Paris on the 22nd and 23rd of this month.

He will also participate in Saudi Arabia’s official reception for Riyadh’s candidacy to host Expo 2030, to be held in Paris on the 19th of this month.

It is noteworthy that this visit comes less than a year following the visit of the Crown Prince to the French capital in July of last year.

On the eve of receiving the Saudi crown prince at the Elysee, the French presidential source said that France will officially support Saudi Arabia’s candidacy to host Expo 2030.

The source also said, “Macron will discuss with the Crown Prince, on Friday, issues that we both care regarding, such as stability in Lebanon and Iraq.”

The source added that France is waiting for Saudi Arabia to play a role with Russia and within the Group of Twenty to encourage talks on Ukraine, and this will be in the interest of everyone, including the southern countries and Saudi Arabia.
