Prince Michael of Greece dies

Prince Michael of Greece is dead. The last living grandson of the Greek King George I, who was murdered in 1913, died yesterday at the age of 85 in a hospital in the capital Athens, according to the online edition of the Greek newspaper “Kathimerini”.

In 1967, Michael was the only member of the Greek royal family to remain in the country after Monarch Constantine II failed in a counter-coup against the right-wing military junta in the country.

Michael of Greece, who grew up in Morocco and Spain and studied in France, had been writing since 1970. He published dozens of biographies of aristocrats as well as works on the history of Greece and the Ottoman Empire.
