More than one of them, this followingnoon at the Resto du Cœur in Charleroi, was surprised to discover, ladle in hand, Prince Laurent serving meals to the beneficiaries.
The Prince was keen to respond to the invitation made by Françoise Daspremont, president of the non-profit association Trait d’Union in Jumet. The Prince did not come alone. Accompanied by his daughter Princess Louise and his sons Princes Aymeric and Nicolas, he visited the buildings and wanted to know the organization as well as the operation of the Carolo meal distribution center. “I had several contacts with the Prince during conferences that I presented. Always interested in the themes discussed, he was very sensitive to our different actions. It is in this spirit that I invited him to come and discover the different actions of field workers. As it was a private visit he wanted to be actively involved and not as an observer. We made some arrangements and our surprise was great when the whole family responded to the invitation. Personally, I find it very important to involve young people, they are the actors of tomorrow,” explains Françoise Daspremont who, even if she is no longer at the forefront of the political scene, Carolo remains one of the most active in slides.

Each of the positions was explained at length to Prince Laurent to his greatest interest. Beyond the actual distribution of meals, Prince Laurent spoke with those on the ground, including Denis Uvier, one of the best-known street workers in Charleroi. The stories of his long experience were the subject of questions and discussions with the Prince. He came, certainly as Prince of Belgium, but above all came as a father ensuring that his children understand even more the importance of kindness, human exchanges and self-sacrifice. Although the issue of insecurity and homelessness was discussed at length, animal welfare was also at the center of the discussion.

This was followed by the installation carried out by the Prince and his children. For distribution, everyone was very diligent in their role, whether plating, distributing soup or helping in the dining room. A simple visit that will remain engraved in the memories of many.
