The prince, who went into exile in the United States, claims that his late mother, Lady Di, also had this feeling of being different from the members of the royal family.
After the publication of his memoirs, in which they settle accounts with his family, Prince Harry confides once more in his childhood, this Saturday. In a filmed and live-streamed discussion with Gabor Mate, a Canadian doctor specializing in child development, Harry says he felt out of place in the royal family, reports Sky News.
“In my younger years, I felt slightly different from the rest of my family. I felt strange, I felt like my body was there but my head was somewhere else, and vice versa. And I know my mother felt the same thing”, explains the one who recently saw his British residence in Windsor withdrawn by King Charles III.
“She wanted me to be happy”
If Harry was afraid to go to therapy to cure this discomfort, it ended up being positive for him, he says.
“I thought that if I went to therapy, I would lose everything I remembered regarding my mother and it turns out that was not the case. I did not lose anything, on the contrary.”
The prince claims to have managed to come out of his “sadness”, following the death of Lady Di: “She really wanted me to be happy, and that freed me from a huge weight.”
