Prince Harry has revealed he does not see himself returning as a member of the royal family. In an interview trailer for 60 Minutes, the Duke of Sussex explains the struggles he and Meghan Markle have had with the press.
In a preview of his 60 Minutes interview with Anderson Cooper which aired on Sunday (1 Jan 23), the US journalist asked the Duke of Sussex if he imagines himself ever returning as a full-time member of the Royal Family British. “No,” he replied.
In his interview for the CBS show, Prince Harry also addressed the criticism he and the Duchess of Sussex had received over their decision to speak publicly regarding leaving the Royal Family in March 2020.
“Every time I tried to do it privately there were briefings and leaks (sic) and stories once morest me and my wife (in the press), he explained. You know, the family motto is never complain, never explain, but that’s just a motto. »
He added that the royal family insidiously communicated with the public by organizing their press offices to “feed or have a discussion” with press correspondents, relaying messages without the royal figure appearing to have said a word personally.
“And this correspondent is literally given information on a platter and will write the article, and at the bottom of it he will say that he has contacted Buckingham Palace for further comment. But the whole story is commented on by Buckingham Palace. So when we’ve been told for six years, ‘We can’t release a statement to protect you,’ but you do for other family members, there’s a time when silence is betrayal,” a added Prince Harry.
