Prince Harry: An “olive branch” to Charles and William – The reaction of the royal family is puzzled

However, the royal family is likely to breathe a sigh of relief after it was announced by its publisher that the book will not contain any revelations about Charles and his family, something rather unusual for a bestseller.

Unfortunately, however, its launch in October will clash with King Charles’ high-profile appearance at the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in Samoa, the first time he has attended since ascending the throne to head the world body.

The meeting will take place from October 21 to 25 with Harry’s paperback being published in the US on October 22 and then in the UK two days later.

Buckingham Palace announced in July that the monarch planned to attend despite his ongoing cancer treatment as part of an autumn tour in October that will also take place in Australia.

Spare’s re-release will also rekindle the prince’s claims against his estranged family, including claims that Prince William broke his necklace and pushed him into a broken dog bowl during a particularly explosive row.

He also recalled several private family conversations between himself, his father and brother and spoke of the difficulties between his wife and the then Duchess of Cambridge – including Kate’s reaction to Meghan saying she had a “baby brain”.

Publishers Penguin Random House announced yesterday that the new edition of Spare will be published in 16 languages worldwide. It will have the same cover image as the hardcover edition, a re-designed package but “the contents of the book remain unchanged”. Questions had been raised lately about whether Harry, like many authors, would update the paperback with a new chapter, especially considering how much has happened in the last year.

The fact that Harry chose not to add to the revelations may be seen by some as an attempt to smooth over the family’s poor relations.

Spare, which was first released on January 10 last year, became an instant bestseller and has sold more than six million copies, both in print and audio, worldwide.

It holds the Guinness World Record for the best-selling non-fiction book of all time, largely because Harry became the most high-profile member of the family to “say it” to the monarchy.

However, while the book, written by journalist JR Moehringer, was a financial success for the prince, his reputation is widely believed to have suffered as a result.

Many saw both the book and Harry’s cycle of equally spontaneous media appearances to publicize it as an exaggerated betrayal and criticized his version of events.

It generally takes six months to a year for a paperback edition to come out after the initial hardcover publication.

They can be produced and sold more cheaply and are designed to attract more readers.

Whether Spare will do that, given its success as a hardcover, remains to be seen.
