Prince George is not yet performing royal duties. And there is no formal constitutional role for the second in line to the throne, explained constitutional expert Craig Prescott of the Royal Holloway University of London.
It will not be until his 21st birthday that he will be one of the royal family members appointed to the Council of State. The “Counselors of State” can take on tasks on behalf of the monarch when he is abroad, for example. “As he is in direct line of succession to the throne and will very likely become king, he will be taught the British constitution and his future role as soon as he is a little older,” says Prescott.
Queen Elizabeth II, who died two years ago, often went through the famous red boxes of documents with Prince William, which the British head of state receives every day to prepare him for his later task.

His smile when he took a selfie with the US superstar clearly showed the joy it gave him – as it would have done for any other child.

A short time later, he was even allowed to attend the final of the European Football Championship in Berlin – although he probably left less than happy given England’s defeat. He shares his father’s love for the Premier League club Aston Villa.
