Prince Andrew ‘will not have a ceremonial role at the King’s coronation’ as he does not work in the royal family.

Prince Andrew will not have a ceremonial role at the coronation of his older brother, King Charles III, which is due to take place in May. This is due to the fact that he is not an active member of the royal family.

Discussions are reportedly underway behind the scenes as to whether or not Andrew will have any role in the historic celebrations.

Although he retains certain associations with the royal family, such as the title Knight of the Garter, the king feels it would be inappropriate to include his younger brother in an official position, according to the Mail on Sunday.

Some people have suggested that the official role might be taken by one of the other members of the royal family, such as Princess Anne or Prince William.

However, sources close to the Palace said last night that Andrew might play a symbolic role.

In 2019, Andrew was forced out of royal duties due to allegations of sexual abuse, charges which the Duke of York has repeatedly denied.

The allegations were made in a US civil lawsuit by Virginia Giuffre.

Although he retained his role as Knight of the Garter, Andrew was barred from last year’s annual public procession following allegations once morest him.

Although he did not attend the actual event, Andrew participated in the private part of the day.

Before his mother’s death, it was reported that Andrew had “intense discussions” with the Queen regarding his future in the Royal Family.

These talks came following the Duke of York refused to give up hope of a return to the royal family.

In August, a friend of Andrew’s told The Sun: “He’s a 62-year-old man and he knows he can’t spend the rest of his life sitting at the Royal Lodge in Windsor, walking his dogs and ride a horse. »

They added, at the time, that Andrew “had had discussions with the Queen regarding what he might do with his life”.
